I agree with you when it comes to something missing. This movie was more about Tony Stark then it was Iron Man. I feel like if it had had a big Iron Man style fight scene the movie would have been a 5/5. All in all damn good movie. Not a bad way to end a trilogy.

You make a good point, Chris. I really liked the big battle at the end, but I wish it had been a bit longer…or that we had been able to see more of the big brawl (and that the big Hulkbuster armor had done more than just hold the rig up).

Not having read the source comic, I didn’t have any expectations of The Mandarin. I thought he was a clever character. Although I’m not sure how original it is. We have seen this evolution of a character before.

I was less critical of the film, but I agree that it wasn’t earth shattering. I was just very entertained. Great review!

  3. We Are Right Here Man (two fingers pointing to my eyes). I thought it was genius with Mandarin’s fortune Cookie line and how it was a double metaphor for the movie and the character. You’re right about the end credit music, out of place. I thought the movie was shot almost perfectly, but there were holes overall. Great review man!

Thank you, GSB! (Looking forward to being on the podcast on Tuesday, by the way). The music as a whole bugged me at points. It just didn’t feel like it had the energy of the music from either of the previous IM installments.

I know we talked opening night about the movie Will, and I still cannot figure out what is missing. I have an idea of one thing that could have been exciting to have seen… but it also comes with the realization that it would have really taken away from Tony’s humanity and have totally altered the story line of the movie. Your comment about the Mandarin was spot on! I was totally convinced that he was going to be compared to Heath Ledger from The Dark Knight. However, in the defining scene of the movie, as soon as Ben Kingsley opened his mouth, I knew the jig was up and the realization hit me like a ton of bricks! Lauren and I watched it opening night, and like you, I really want to go back and watch it again. I think that maybe I will catch something that I missed the first time around, and maybe I can put a finger on what I feel is the “missing piece” that we talked about.
