With Papa Kenn Reviews quickly approaching its first birthday (they grow up so fast), I’ve decided to make a few changes in regard to how things are done. One of the most significant changes being made has to do with how I score/rank each movie. Rather than the usual 10-point system which allows for too much wiggle room and questionable meaning behind each score, movies will now be rated on a 5-point system. By doing this, my scores will be more concise and will keep me from wasting time debating with myself whether a movie “deserves” either a 9 or 10, a 6 or 7, and so on.

5/5 – “Practically Perfect”
A score of 5 means that the movie has virtually no flaws in my opinion, or it has blown me away in such a fashion that any minor flaws it might have are negligible at best.I

4/5 – “Pretty Darn Good”
A score of 4 means that the movie is really good and enjoyable, but there are significant flaws that keep it from being even more.

3/5 – “Pretty Average”
A score of 3 means that the movie isn’t particularly bad, but it’s not particularly good either. At best, it may be somewhat enjoyable for a select audience. In other words: Meh.

2/5 – “Pretty Bad”
A score of 2 means that the movie fails to deliver in many ways, and is simply a poor film. A film can look good but have poor acting and/or writing, yet it can also have good acting and/or writing but look really bad.

1/5 – “Pathetically Bad”
A score of 1 means that the movie fails in every way possible. Poor acting, horrid scripts, terrible graphics and editing, etc. Simply put, the bottom of the barrel has been scraped.

0/5 – “You Should Be Ashamed Of Yourself, Now Go To Your Room And Think About What You Did”
The worst of the worst, and far beyond the possibility of being considered “so bad it’s good/funny”. A movie with a score of 0 is so bad that spending money to watch it should be considered a hate crime against those innocent little brain cells we all abuse on a daily basis.
